VOICES FROM THE TRAIL
Our trek was steep and muddy and utterly worth it. A silverback walked within two meters of us. The team handled permits, porters, everything.
Gorilla permits sell out months ahead — these guys secured ours, matched the trek difficulty to my dodgy knee, and the lodge choices were superb.
Chimps, lions in trees, THE gorillas. Our guide Isaac was born near Bwindi and it showed in every conversation with rangers and locals.
Ugandan roads test your patience, but the crater-lake lodges and the primate encounters more than repay it. Go before everyone else does.
